Index Cards

I use the index cards with my students each year. Students can either print their own copy (or we print them for a minimal fee). Part of the weekly homework involves self-testing with the cards.

If your printer has duplex printing options, choose "flip on short edge" to get the question and answer to line up properly. Print them on the thickest card you can afford so that the answers cannot be seen through the card.

Retrival Practice Tests

Once a week/fortnight I used one of the tests below with students.

Year 13 Tests

Year 12 Tests

Students would generally peer-mark these and I have been experimenting with Optical Mark Recognition to collate an analyse the results (using a free program called Form Scanner). This has allowed me to use the data from over a hundred students in one go. Once I identify the questions they can't do, some of them go on the next test.

I am not at the stage where I can share a used friendly version of doing this, but feel free to experiment if you're tech savvy.
